Client Accounting Manager
Sparks, MD
Kindred is seeking a versatile and proactive Client Accounting Manager to join our Client Advisory Services team. This position requires regular in-office work. A hybrid schedule may be available and will be determined based on the needs of the role and the firm.
As a Client Accounting Manager, you’ll serve as the primary financial contact for a portfolio of clients, leading monthly financial reviews, mentoring bookkeeping staff, solving accounting challenges, and helping business owners make better financial decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with our tax team to ensure our clients receive proactive, year-round advice rather than once-a-year compliance.

Client Leadership & Advisory:
- Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of unique business clients in industries such as manufacturing. e-commerce, and hospitality.
- Lead recurring financial review meetings with business owners.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships by providing financial oversight, decision support, and training.
- Assist clients with budgeting and cash flow forecasting while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
Accounting Oversight & Internal Leadership:
- Review monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements completed by Accounting Specialists.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end close while identifying and investigating unusual trends.
- Mentor and coach Accounting Specialists.
- Assist with improving internal workflows.
- Collaborate with partners on complex client matters.
Technology & Process Improvement:
- Lead QuickBooks Online implementations and conversions, including data cleanup, configuration, and system optimization.
- Evaluate client technology stacks, recommend workflow improvements, and implement solutions that improve efficiency and reporting.
- Develop standardized accounting processes for growing businesses.
Requirements:
Professional/Educational Experience:
- QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified
- AA or BS/BA in Accounting or Finance OR
- 5 years of professional experience in an accounting role
Experience in programs:
- Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Teams, Excel
- QuickBooks Online
Soft Skills:

Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper
Kindred Accounting Services is seeking a Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper responsible for managing financial records using QuickBooks Online. This position involves maintaining accurate and organized financial records, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review general ledger accounts, ensuring proper account classification and reconciliation
- Generate and analyze financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, verifying completeness and accuracy of financial data
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations using QuickBooks Online
- Record financial transactions and journal entries in client books in accordance with GAAP and client-specific requirements
- Record transactions related to collection and payment of state and local sales and use taxes
- Provide responsive and professional communication to client inquiries, maintaining confidentiality and clarity at all times

Tax Preparer
Seasonal Position
Kindred is seeking a experienced and detail-oriented seasonal Tax Preparer to join our team. This role involves preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, including S-Corporations, C-Corporations, and Partnerships. You’ll analyze financial records, review prior-year filings, and ensure accuracy and compliance across all submissions, including Maryland Personal Property Tax Returns.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for businesses, including S-Corporations, C-Corporations, and Partnerships
- Prepare individual tax returns, including multi-state filings, returns with multiple schedules, and returns involving multiple K-1s
- Review client-provided documents, prior-year tax returns, and financial statements to ensure accurate reporting
- Effectively communicate tax outcomes to clients, including explanations of calculations and contributing factors in their tax returns
- Prepare and file Maryland Personal Property Tax Returns using the MD Online Filing System
- Stay current with tax laws and regulations, particularly those affecting Maryland and surrounding states
- Ensure clients remain in compliance with relevant tax laws and reporting requirements
